31st December 2008.
The year draws to a close with a last minute change of position as we catch up with the news that
Harold Pinter sadly didn't see see Christmas. Andy A. no doubt raised a glass or 6 of red in his memory.
So, the top three at the close of the pool for 2008 are Mark, John & Andy A. Congratulations to all.
Thanks to everyone for taking part, and I look forward to receiving your entries for the 2009 pool, which have to reach me by end January 2009. Happy New Year!
9th July 2008.
The transfer window closes and Steve & Mark's new entrants are now included. So it's a hearty welcome to Alex Allan, Patrick Swayze, Kirk Douglas & Liz Smith. I'm sure they'll be delighted when they hear they are now included!
9th June 2008.
It's a
happy birthday to Britain's oldest man as Steve's entry of Henry Allingham cenbrates his 112th. I particularly like his secret to longevity of "cigarettes, whisky and wild women". 'Fact of the day' is that if he should die in this years competition, Steve will actually lose 7 points (100-112= -12 + 5 unique pick points = -7). Gotta be hoping for him to be one of a Full House set there haven't you Steve?
2nd June 2008.
No sooner have I updated the site for Yves St Laurent's departure, I get pointed out that
Jeff Healey has played his last gig. Seems Mark hasn't been keeping tabs on his hit-list (I can't do everything for you folks you know!), but no doubt we'll all be hearing about it now! John's lead was the shortest ever.

15th February 2008.
As more information has come out throughout the day, it appears the court has declared that Steve Fossett died in a crash on the day he went missing, meaning he officially died before the start of the pool. Bah humbug!
15th February 2008.
Steve Fossett's wife's request to have him declared dead came to an end today when a Chicago court did just that. By my reckoning, no-one is dead until someone legally says they are, so today counts as the day he died. John goes into an early lead with an inspired pick!
6th February 2008.
A couple of late entries takes Amy Winehouse clear at the top of the pickings. Also nice to see Castro making an appearance; the pool just didn't seem right without him.
1st February 2008.
All votes have been cast and the competition is under way. Thanks for all your entries. We've seen a very wide ranging selection this year with a large majority of indiviual picks (you've obviously all been doing your homework!). However, Elizabeth Taylor & Amy Winehouse top this years choices with 3 picks each, ousting Fidel Castro & Ian Huntley from their top positions from 2007. Interestingly, neither of those upstanding gentlemen of the community appear this year. What a fickle lot you are!
1st January 2008.
Welcome to the build-up for the 2008 pool. After Andy's '07 victory there's a lot seeking to improve their performances from last year! Get your entry lists to me by the end of 31st January 2008 and the show starts from 00:01 on 1st February. Good luck!
